Dugout Diamonds

If you’ve ever been to a baseball game recently, you will notice the girls repping the green jerseys in the stands. These girls are players Dugout Diamonds. A Dugout Diamond is not just the right hand girl, but their support and someone to cheer them on. Dugout diamonds can be the person a player is dating or just a best friend you know you can always count on.

“Dugout Diamonds are important because it gives the players something to look forward to on game day and gives them extra encouragement throughout baseball season,” Mariah Perez (10) said.

Dugout Diamonds are similar to football’s Sideline Sweethearts as they both do more than just cheer the player on.

“A Dugout Diamond is like a personal cheerleader for a player, but we also buy our player gifts and snacks before each game and give it to them the morning of the game,” Perez said.

The idea of a Dugout Diamond was not started here at Cypress Falls, but the group was brought together by Mrs. Laura Backs, a parent of a Cypress Falls baseball player. Mrs. Backs is responsible for all the behind the sense works of Dugout Diamonds.

“Usually to become a Dugout Diamond a varsity player would have to ask you but you can ask Mrs. Banks if there’s any without and you can sign right up,” Hedi Donaldson (10) said.

It takes a lot of effort to be a Dugout Diamond, but at the end there’s always a main goal.

“Dugout Diamonds are constant encouragement for the team and are the best way to help get the players pumped for the game,” Hedi Donaldson (10) said.
