BIRD DOWN
September 19, 2018
An injured bird, later identified as a Chuck-will’s-widow was found on campus last week by Ms.Oke and was given to Ms.Wilson, a founder of Students Protecting America’s Animals here at Falls.
“[I’ve been working with] animals all of my life,” Wilson said. “We’ve been at Cy-Falls for more than ten years now.”
The bird was located at the front of the school, clearly injured.
“I was told the bird was in a box in Ms.Oke’s room,” Wilson said.
After finding the bird, Wilson then took it to the TWRC Wildlife Center so they could take better care of it. But the injuries the bird suffered were too much for its fragile body.
“The bird actually did not make it,” Wilson said. “It had a broken shoulder.”
The community of Cy-Falls has never been one to turn away animals of any kind when they are in need.
“We have saved many birds, dogs, and cats over the years that have either been abandoned or injured here at Falls,” Wilson said. “We all work together as a family to save each animal.”
