The Eagles took on the Jersey Village Falcons on Friday night at Pridgeon Stadium and couldn’t surmount the lead that the Falcons had put up. The Eagles had a 6-0 start to the season going into the game and were ready to go after a light rain had let up.

Things weren’t going in favor for the Eagles early in the game. Quarterback TJ Goodwin (12) went down early in the game after getting tackled awkwardly on his left leg. Goodwin played on through the pain during the night, and the severity is unknown as of right now.

The Falcons struck early in the first quarter with quarterback Raymond Richardson (12) running the ball on a keeper to the end zone. Later in the first half, the Falcons also scored on a 19-yard field goal making the score 10-0 at halftime.

Prior to the start of the second half, the radar started lighting up. Storms were moving into the area, but the Eagles scored their first touchdown on the night. Running back Koby Leavatts (12) with a 92-yard run to lessen the Falcons lead to 10-7.

On the next drive, the Falcons scored a touchdown and they got set to kick the PAT, but the kick was blocked by defensive back Deontae Parker (12) and picked up and returned by safety Ricky Johnson (11) for two points.

With lightning now illuminating the sky in the distance, the Falcons took a 23-9 lead with a fumble return to the end zone. At 8:44 p.m., both teams retreated to their locker rooms due to lightning in the area.

The delay lasted for an hour and 39 minutes and the rain continued for the remainder of the game. The Eagles would score one more time on a pitch from TJ Goodwin to Jyrese Hanchett (12). The final score after a long night at Pridgeon was 23-15, breaking the Eagles perfect 6-0 record this season.

The Eagles offense produced 286 total yards, 201 of them came from the rushing offense and 85 on passing. The Eagles committed seven penalties compared to five from the Falcons.

The Eagles will play Stratford on Friday, October 26, at Tully Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff time.
