Field Trip Days

Back in elementary, there was nothing like waking up on a field trip day getting to wear your play jeans and heading off to enjoy a day filled with fun outdoors instead of staying inside. In high school, we don’t get those luxuries. Everything is just work and school with sometimes a social life. Here are some classes that make learning a little more fun with outside the classroom help.

Aquatics is a class only for seniors, but it’s definitely worth the wait. This class takes two trips to Galveston during the school year to enhance their learning experience.

“For our first field trip we had to catch fish and crabs and determine if they had  the things we learned about in class,” Ginger Ornelas (12) said.

Pals is also a class that gets to field trip, but these students get to do it every Tuesday and Thursday. During their class period, they go to the feeder elementary schools and mentor the younger kids. PAL’s is not just about the kids though, but the bond students grow with each other. The connection they build with their classmates is just as big as the connection with their palees.

“It’s such a rewarding experience to know that you’re able to make an impact upon someone’s life in a time where they really need you,” Aryssa Yoo-hoo (12) said, “I can definitely say that as the year goes by, I see myself grow as a person, and I’ve  learned more from this class than I have in any other.”

Lastly,  Economics. Every year, Ms. Vargas  takes the senior students who want to go, on a college trip. This trip is to Stephen F. Austin University. It it seen as a good way for students to really experience what a college campus is like.
