Principals are known throughout the nation as leaders and representatives to all students and staff members. Each October, the NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals), NAESP (National Association of Elementary School Principals), and AFSA (American Federation of School Administrators) honor these individuals, who spend their careers trying to better themselves and the students of their school, by naming October National Principals Month.

This month, Cy Falls takes the time to thank and appreciate Principal Rebecca Denton, and all the things she’s achieved for the school.

“She is an unbelievable leader because she leads with love,” English teacher Leslie Laird said. “And she expects the same from all of us that work with her, and it just makes this a great place to be.”

For Mrs. Denton, National Principals Month is not only for her, but also the people who help her every day to fulfill her duties as a principal.

“I plan on taking time out each day to thank those with and for whom I work,” Principal Denton said. “ I wouldn’t be the principal I am today if it wasn’t for the people who helped me.”

Last year, Cy Falls went through major construction that lead to many inconveniences  for not only the staff members, but also students.

“She’s done a ton since the flood and the renovation,” Laird said. “And I realize that [construction] is what the district does, but she has helped keep all of us, teachers [and] students, calm throughout every storm that we’ve had. She just really leads this building in a way that helps such a large place feel like a family.”

Not only are principals the face or the school, they are also the leaders who are meant to represent the students and staff members as a whole and influence them to do their best.

“I get the chance to positively affect a lot of people every day,” Principal Denton said. “I am truly one of the luckiest ladies I know to get to serve as principal of Cypress Falls.”

Although Denton has not been the principal at Cy Falls for a long time, she has done many things that have helped make both students and staff member’s lives easier.

“I loved this campus and wanted to make sure we continued in our success,” Principal Denton said.“I thank God every day for the opportunity to serve as principal of the greatest school in the state of Texas.”
