Free and Reduced

Avery Collins, Staff

During the school year, according to the Cy Falls website, 60.1% of students that attend participate in the free and reduced lunch program. This is a program that aid kids who need either free meals at school, or meals at a reduced price.

This is a helpful way to ensure that these kids are getting the chance to eat not just anything, but the healthy and nutritious breakfast and lunch meals the school provides.

But as the holidays approach, what happens to those that participate in this program? Though the school does not provide them with much during these times due to not being able to give away unopened food items from other food services, they do help as much as they can in another way.

“If we know of particular needs [from a student],” Principal Becky Denton said. “We try to connect the students with people who can help.”

If you, or anyone you know, are in need of anything food-wise, during the holidays, please contact a teacher or staff member so they can help you in any way they can.
