Veteren’s Day

November 11 was Veteran’s day, a day to remember those that have served our country. We’d like to highlight those at Cy Falls that have made this sacrifice and thank them for all they have done.

  1. Served 6 years from 2006 – 2012
  1.  What’s your favorite thing about the military?
  1. Camaraderie
  1. What was your job in the military?
  1. 42R – Band Musician
  1.  How do you celebrate Veteran’s day?
  1. Usually by playing Taps or participating in ceremonies. It also happens to be my birthday so…
  1. What was your favorite memory while serving?
  1. Enjoying time with fellow musicians

  1. What branch did you serve in?
  1. I served 5 years in the Navy as a Master at Arms (Navy cop)
  1. What made you want to serve?
  1. I was bullied in school and hated it, the idea of four more years of school was terrifying, so I ran away from home for a while
  1. How long have you been serving?
  1. My favorite part was the comradery that I eventually found there.  I’d always had a hard time making friends but when you serve together you become more than friends and more than shipmates, you become family.
  1.  How do you celebrate Veteran’s day?
  1. I don’t really celebrate Veteran’s Day.  I come to work and continue to serve my community and my country, just in a different way by being an educator.
  1. What was your favorite memory while serving?
  1. This picture was taken just days before 9/11 after my shipmates and I had just finished a 12 hour night shift.  Even though it had been a long night and we were pretty tired, we were still happy to be right where we were, working with each other.

  1. I served in the U.S. Army.
  1. What made you want to serve?
  1. I had wanted to join the Army since I was a kid.
  1. How long have you been serving?
  1. I served active duty for three years.
  1.  What’s your favorite thing about the military?
  1. I learned a lot of discipline, and I made some great friends. People who have served always seem to have a special connection, no matter the branch.
  1. What was your job in the military?
  1. I was in a Mechanized Infantry unit, so there was a lot of time training with weapons, driving and maintaining tracked vehicles, and… camping, lots of camping.
  1.  How do you celebrate Veteran’s day?
  1. I’m always working on Veteran’s Day, but I take time to honor my combat veteran friends.
  1. What was your favorite memory while serving?
  1. Training in Holland and Germany.

  1. Love for country…led me to serve

  1. Served 3 ½ years

  1. Favorite things…discipline..team…willing to live and die for a cause

  1. Corpsman/medic
  1.  How do you celebrate Veteran’s day?
  1. Celebration is with deep reflection, not for my part but for the true hero’s that never came home

  1. 20 years

  1. The camaraderie and esprit decor in units and on base in general. Instant bonding and friends after every move

  1. Security police
  1.  How do you celebrate Veteran’s day?
  1. I watched war movies
  1. What was your favorite memory while serving?
  1. Having tea and diner with the peshmerga general who lead general petraeus through northern Iraq during the beginning of the war.
