The Eagles took on the Cy-Fair Bobcats at Pridgeon Stadium in the sixth game of their season coming off of winning all five of their previous games. The Bobcats came in off of a bye week last week, but also undefeated just like the Eagles. With the kickoff underway shortly after 7 p.m., the student section, dressed in pink for the annual pink out game, and fans were buzzing as the two undefeated teams got ready to show their potential under the Friday night lights. 

The Eagles started with the ball on their own 16 yard line to start the game, but went three and out and were forced to punt. Cy-Fair took no time moving the ball across the field to get into scoring position. Mixing up the run and passing proved to be effective by the Bobcat offense early on. With the Bobcats approaching the endzone, Cy Falls called a timeout and were able to hold the Bobcats to a field goal midway through the first quarter. 

The Eagles moved the ball quickly to midfield but turned the ball over on a fumble and on the very next play, Cy-Fair’s running back L.J. Johnson (11) ran the ball 45 yards to the endzone for the touchdown followed by a successful PAT by Bobcats kicker Jake Ruiz (12). The score to end the first quarter was 10-0.

On the first play of the second quarter, the Eagles were in scoring position and a short pass from Brandon Collins (12) to Ricky Johnson (12) was completed for the touchdown, cutting the lead back down to three. On the next drive, Eagles cornerback Chris Ramos (12) intercepted the ball to shift the momentum back to the Eagles. When the Eagles took the field again, they marched all the way down the field and scored a touchdown when QB Brandon Collins (12) ran the ball 14 yards to the endzone while shying away from defenders. The extra point was good from Noah Smith (12) and gave the lead to the Eagles for the first time on the night.

However, the Bobcats were quick to respond with a touchdown of their own when tight end Bayne Tryon (12) scored on a long pass from Bobcats quarterback Carter Cravens (11). The extra point was no good and the score moved to 16-14 in the Bobcats favor. They were able to score one more time before the half on a running play from L.J. Johnson (11) for the second touchdown on the night from him. The score at halftime was 23-14.

On the second play of the second half, L.J. Johnson (11) got the handoff and found a hole for an 89-yard touchdown. That would be his third touchdown on the night and it extended the lead to 16 for the Bobcats. On the Eagles’ first drive of the half, they took their time marching the ball forward to get into scoring position. Running back Jaylan Walker (11) powered the ball across the goal line for a two yard touchdown. The Eagles went for the two-point conversion but were unsuccessful. The Bobcats led by 10 for the remainder of the third quarter. 

The fourth quarter was mostly quiet from both teams, but Cy-Fair RB L.J. Johnson wouldn’t stop as he scored yet another touchdown on the night. That score made the lead insurmountable as the Eagles couldn’t recover from the large deficit. The final score was 37-20.

The Eagles will be off next week but will be back in action on October 18 against the Jersey Village Falcons.
