The Cy Falls Eagles faced the Stratford Spartans on Friday night at Pridgeon Stadium for this year’s homecoming matchup. As fans filled in the empty seats, the temperatures dropped to the mid-40’s and the kickoff was underway as scheduled.

The first quarter was a defensive quarter. Both teams went three and out on their first drive of the game and punted on all of their drives throughout the quarter. The game was scoreless at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Eagles running back JP Martin (11) got the handoff and found a hole in the defense. He weaved past defenders and scored a touchdown on a 44-yard rushing play. Following that drive, things got hot on defense and quiet on offense bringing the first half to a close with a score of 6-0 with the Eagles on top.

After a special homecoming halftime, the Eagles came out strong on offense scoring two touchdowns early in the quarter. The first touchdown of the second half was a one-handed catch by Eagles wide receiver Ricky Johnson (12) from a pass by quarterback Brandon Collins (12). After the kickoff following the touchdown, the Spartans took the ball near their own 20 yard line. After the Spartans snapped the ball, they lost it, and the Eagles defensive back Jay Vikers (12) picked it up and returned it for the touchdown. At the end of the third, JP Martin was back at it when he ran 21 yards for a touchdown making the score 25-0.

Just a minute after the fourth and final quarter started, JP Martin got the call again and ran it in for seven more points and effectively put the game to an end. The final score was 32-0 and the Eagles improved their season record to 7-1.

The Eagles will take on the Spring Woods Tigers at Tully Stadium at 7p.m. this upcoming Thursday, October 31, where they will seek to clinch a playoff spot.
