As the number of cases rise in the U.S., the Trump Administration has raised social distance guidelines to April 30. 

With the passing of the historic 2 trillion dollar stimulus bill, U.S. Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, tells Americans that they should expect checks to be deposited into their bank accounts by sometime towards the end of the three weeks.

The FDA released a new official guidance, the “Conduct of Clinical Trials of Medical Products during COVID-19 Pandemic,” that is a question and answer based guide intended for industry, investigators, and review boards that will be continually updated.

Using a model made by the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, the White House predicts that by April 15 the U.S. will have reached its peak resource use and by August about 82,000 will die from Covid-19 

“Our estimate of 81 thousand deaths in the US over the next 4 months is an alarming number,” the researchers from the University of Washington wrote. “But this number could be substantially higher if excess demand for health system resources is not addressed and if social distancing policies are not vigorously implemented and enforced across all states.”

However, other officials, including the White House, have used other models, which showcase the possibility of there being over 100,000 deaths by the end of the summer.

President Trump voices his hesitancy to enact a nation wide stay-at-home order during the Wednesday night press conference. 

“States are different and I understand that the governor of Florida, great Gov. Ron DeSantis issued one today and that’s good, that’s great,” President Trump said. “But there are some states that are different. There are some states that don’t have much of a problem.” 

During the press conference, he also revealed that the White House has begun to consider blocking travel to areas that are considered coronavirus hotspots.

The coronavirus has now reached over one million cases world wide with about 50,000 deaths.

The White reveals that federal stockpiles are almost completely gone. This does not come as a shock, however, since the White House had previously predicted this would happen earlier in March. 

Unemployment reports from last week are released to the public, revealing a record 6.6 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week.

Other forgien countries, such as Italy, Germany, and Pakistan, have extended their lockdowns.

The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, calls upon the White House to order a federal stay-at-home order. At the time of this comment, only 38 states had some sort of stay-at-home order in place; however, many of these orders were based in certain locations within the state, not the entire state.

In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott discloses that only 15 percent of all Texas residents diagnosed with Covid-19 are hospitalized. 

In Wuhan, residents are asked to only go outside if completely necessary. This comes soon after Wuhan begins to open back up after a two month lockdown.

While in East Asia the number of Covid-19 cases continue to drop, Western countries such as Germany and America, continue to see a rise. With this influx of cases, medical centers in Brooklyn have turned towards using rain ponchos and garbage bags to gown as the number of medical supplies in New York shrink to an all time low. 

The US Attorney General, William Barr, urges prison officials to maximize early release programs for low risk prisoners, as concerns over prisoners safety come into question.

Globally, there are 1,263,976 reported cases of the virus. In the U.S., the number increases to 331,234 reported cases with 9,458 deaths (as of EST 6:12 P.M.). 

The coronavirus is expected to peak in the U.S.during the next two weeks. The White House COVID-19 Coordinator, Deborah Birx, urges Americans to to stay inside and only go to grocery stores or pharmacies if completely necessary. 

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” Birx said. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe.”

The CDC has recommended all Americans wear masks in public; they have also released videos showcasing how to make your own mask at home if you are unable to obtain one. 

In Britain, the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is admitted into the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
