New Teacher of the Week: Kelly Blackstone

Kelly Blackstone is the new Business and Finance Teacher at Cy Falls. As a young adult, she decided to obtain her undergraduate from Texas A&M after her mother told her not to go there; however, she does not regret her decision. After earning her Bachelor’s, she began teaching at the University of Phoenix, where she later earned her Masters. After leaving the University of Phoenix, she taught at Truitt Middle School for five years. Last year, she decided to leave Truitt and begin a new part of her teaching career at Cy Falls. This year has not been the easiest year for any teacher, including Blackstone, as she says that creating interactive lessons for both in-person and online students is the hardest part of her job. However, she still enjoys teaching and treasures the fact that her job allows her a lot of time with her kids. If there was one thing she could do, it would be to travel to New York City on New Year’s Eve to see the ball drop, as well as watch a play on Broadway. A great piece of advice Blackstone would give would be to not take life for granted, because the one thing a person never gets back is time.
