Jessica Marek is a new teacher at Cy Falls but is no stranger to teaching. She previously taught at Temple High School, Rice Consolidated High School, and East View High School. She now teaches biology at Cy Falls and recalls that she became a teacher because she enjoyed helping people learn. She attended Tarleton State University and is currently enrolled working towards her masters degree. Through rough times, Marek says it’s important to keep a strong and positive mind. She attests that there have been some struggles along the way, but every one of them have led her to become a better teacher. On Marek’s bucket list is a plan to travel to Arizona and hike Havasu Falls. A word of advice from her is for students to get out of their comfort zone and try new things, and while failure may happen, students may learn something valuable.
