Theater’s fall play, “Rashomon” by Fay Kanin and Michael Kanin, took place on October 7, 8, and 9 at 7 p.m., and October 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The cost of the tickets were five dollars and it is recommended for an audience of 13 and or older.

“My first choice of play is always a play that has great literary value,” Assistant Theatre Director Robert Hurlburt said. “This is a beautiful piece of

theater that’s derived from two short stories written at the beginning of the 20th century.”

In “Rashomon”, the wife of a samurai is assaulted and her husband killed by a bandit. A priest, woodcutter, and the deceased samurai, are testifying through a medium to explain their versions of what happened that day.  

“I think people will enjoy the combat,” Hurlburt said. “I think they’ll enjoy the mystery. It’s just a good piece of theater.”  

Johnny Gutierrez (12), who plays the role of Bandit, believes their director set them on the right path to find there character. 

“It’s mainly about different characters saying their own perspective on a crime scene,” Gutierrez said. “We done this for a couple years, so we already know what to do.” 

Lauren Beathley (12), who plays the wife, believes they have really grown with their characters to make them their own. 

“We had to do a lot of combat and making sure each other were safe during each fight,” Beathly said.

Theater’s next event will be the haunted house and take place on Oct. 29 and 30.
